Composition

Active principles

Products obtained from the transformation of herbs (Equisetum arvense L. powder 10%, Laminaria digitata powder 5%, spirulina maxima powder 4%), glucosamine sulfate (from animal tissue) 10%, chondroitin sulphate (from pig) 10%, maltodextrin, animal proteins hydrolysates (from poultry liver), magnesium salt of stearic acid, 1% fish oil, 1% perna canaliculus powder.

With the addition of fish oil.
Enhanced formula with the addition of FISH OIL. Contains fish oil, a well-known source of polyunsaturated fatty acids of the omega 3 series. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are molecules consisting of a carbon chain with a final carboxylic group and a final methyl group. The carbon chain has both simple and double bonds, unsaturated portions. Omega 3 fatty acids, as well as omega 6, are defined as essential fatty acids because the body is not able to synthesize them and therefore these nutrients must necessarily be taken with the diet. Polyunsaturated fatty acids, in particular EPA and DHA, have been recognized as having known health properties, first of all the beneficial action at the level of heart function, blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels.

  • GLUCOSAMINE SULFATE - from a chemical point of view, glucosamine is an aminomonosaccharide or a monosaccharide characterized by the replacement of a hydroxy functional group with an amino functional group. Glucosamine is one of the main precursors of glycoproteins, in particular of proteoglycans, macromolecules consisting of a central protein structure (core) to which structures of disaccharides or glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are covalently linked, i.e. long, unbranched chains consisting of repetitive units disaccharides alternating with aminosaccharides. All GAGs contain glucosamine derivatives.
Proteoglycans are the main constituents of the extracellular matrix of bone and cartilage connective tissue and are linked by non-covalent bonds to long chains of hyaluronic acid, chemically also a glycosaminoglycan (GAG). Within these huge aggregates of proteoglycans and hyaluronic acid, proteins such as collagen, elastin and fibronectin are also found in the matrix, making the matrix itself more resistant.
Glucosamine therefore plays a very important role in the structure of these tissues and therefore its administration in growing dogs can be useful for normal development of bones and joints.
  • CHONDROTIN SULFATE - chondroitin sulfate is a glycosaminglycan (GAG), which in the form of proteoglycans is therefore also a very important constituent of the extracellular matrix of bone and cartilage connective tissue.
The administration of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate to puppies can therefore be useful for strengthening and chondroprotection of bone and cartilage structures.
  • EQUISETUM ARVENSE - this plant, also known as "horsetail" is particularly rich in silica, both in the stem and in the leaves.
A good silica content is found in whole grains, seafood (crustaceans), many vegetables (onion, shallot, strawberry, peas, drinking water and some mineral waters).
Over the past decade, some studies have recognized silicon as a trace element that plays an important role in connective tissue, especially bone and cartilage. Some bone and cartilage abnormalities have been associated with a decrease in the components of the matrix highlighting that the need for silicon in the formation of collagen and GAGs is an important requirement. The main effect of silicon in bone and cartilage is on the organic matrix (represented by collagen fibers) immersed in the amorphous substance of proteoglycans and GAGs. The organic matrix of the bone appears to be more severely affected by silicon deficiency than the mineralization process. Further support for the metabolic role of silicon in connective tissue is provided by the discovery that silicon is a main ion of osteogenic cells and is present in particularly high concentrations in the metabolically active state of the cell; furthermore, silicon reaches relatively high levels in the mitochondria of these cells.
Deficient states of this element have shown, in animal models, a defective formation of the joints, a deficient endochondrial growth, defects in the articular cartilage. Eqisetum for its content of silicic acid can be useful therefore useful for supporting the functionality of bones and cartilages.
  • PROTEIN FEEDING OF ANIMALS - food continuously produces acidic waste and the body does its best to eliminate them. It is known that a diet rich in proteins, especially animal ones and to a lesser extent those of vegetable origin, leads to the formation of many acid waste, but the organism is able to balance (neutralize) the excess acid substances by triggering various mechanisms . However, if it does not have sufficient alkaline supply (bicarbonates), it cannot neutralize these acids 100%. In this situation, the bone represents a fundamental reserve of minerals, which the body draws from. This in the long run leads to an impoverishment of its mass by weakening it (weakening of the bone).
The quantity of calcium contained in a food is not so important as the property of not removing calcium from the body.
Therefore it is important to always feed a balanced diet in nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
  • LAMINARIA DIGITATA - laminaria digitata is an algae source of various nutrients, such as Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Manganese, Zinc, Iodine and offers all the benefits of these substances taken in natural and non-synthetic form. The calcium contained in algae is an excellent food for puppies.
  • SPIRULINA MAXIMA - it is also an alga - Algae in general, in particular their walls, are rich in polysaccharides, proteins and lipids. Spirulina is known for its purifying properties due to the polysaccharide component and for its antioxidant properties due to the presence of phenolic acids, alpha-tocopherol and beta-carotene.
  • PERNA CANALICULUS - commonly known as green mussel, is a New Zealand green mussel. Some recent studies have shown that this food can be particularly beneficial for joint health. This property is attributed to a series of nutrients, but in particular, it seems to be mainly due to the presence of eicosatetraenoic acid (ETA), a polyunsaturated fatty acid of the omega 3 series. - perna canaliculus has a mineral content similar to that of humans; it contains a high percentage of proteins, carbohydrates, glycosaminglycans (glucosamine), lipids and, as already mentioned, minerals.
  • VITAMIN C - is a vitamin with antioxidant action that contributes to the formation of native collagen.
  • VITAMIN E - antioxidant effect.
  • SELENIUM - mineral supporting the normal function of the immune system and useful for protecting cells from oxidative stress.
  • FISH OIL - Enhanced formula with the addition of FISH OIL.

  • What is the difference between the DOGOjunior® and the classic chondroprotector for puppies?
  • Both products are part of the category of complementary feeds specific for the correct development and growth of the puppy.
Unlike the classic chondroprotector for puppies, DOGOjunior® has in the ingredients list a series of plant extracts that are important for the purpose for which the product is intended.
Glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate are certainly useful in pursuing the aim of assisting the correct growth and bone development of puppies.
The organism of puppies is, in general, already able to synthesize the necessary amount of Glucosamine and Chondroitin for their growth; a supplementation aims to support this quota and improve it in case of physiological deficiencies.
However, the importance of DOGOjunior® must be placed on the other components of the product; if on the one hand we have only the two components that support the health of cartilage and bone health, on the other hand we have a more complete product which, in addition to the previously mentioned action, supports osteo-articular functions with important extracts:
    • Equisetum Arvense - Horsetail is a plant of the Equisetaceae family; the active ingredients present are: silica, calcium, magnesium, potassium, saponin (equisetonin), flavonic glycosides, small quantities of alkaloids and tannins. Due to the presence of these mineral salts, in a highly available molecular form, horsetail contributes to the "bone metabolism" and favors the remineralization of the osteo-articular system. It is considered a valid fortifier for the puppy; thanks to its remineralizing properties , it can help to fortify the bones and keep them healthy and robust and therefore could represent a natural remedy useful for the prevention of osteoporosis. In fact, thanks to its good content of silicon, potassium and particular flavonoids, it appears particularly suitable for promoting healing fractures, in cases of bone fragility and in cases of difficult healing of skin wounds.Excellent also for external use, it is useful for strengthening the animal's hair, preventing it from falling and supporting its growth.
    • Laminaria digitata - Laminaria is a brown seaweed rich in iodine and sodium, but also in iron, magnesium, potassium and calcium; it is characterized by high doses of folic acid and the presence of numerous vitamins that make it an algae rich in nutrition. Useful in the management and improvement of metabolism (due to the enormous richness of iodine); it can also be a valid food for supplementing magnesium, potassium and calcium, which are important for bone health.
    • Spirulina maxima - The alga, scientifically known as Arthrospira, lives mainly in the fresh water of sub-tropical areas. It has a blue-green color and the typical spiral shape has given it its name. It is considered one of the most complete foods on the planet; in fact, it contains all the essential amino acids, has 60% protein and has the highest concentration of beta-carotene, vitamin B12, iron and minerals as well as the rare essential fatty acid GLA (gamma-linolenic acid). Being such a rich seaweed, it is especially important for the immune system, but its richness in components allows the plant to be quite versatile. In fact, it also acts at the joint level to help maintain bone health.
    • Perna canaliculis - Perna canaliculis is a crustacean (green mussel) from New Zealand, widely used for the prevention of osteoarthritis in animals. Contains omega-3 fatty acids and eicosatrienoic acid. It also contains chondroitin sulfate, omega 3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA), glutamine, vitamins A and C and mineral salts (zinc, copper, manganese). These have a beneficial effect on health and act synergistically in limiting the degeneration of the cartilage and helping the regeneration of the synovial fluid.
  • Accidental ingestion of whole product packaging
  • We remind you that it is good practice to keep the unopened package away from the reach of children and animals, as indicated in the warnings on labels and boxes. The greatest risk in the event that a dog ingests the entire contents of the package is that it may in a hurry swallow pieces of plastic, much more harmful than the active ingredients contained in the product. However, given the variability of the subject with respect to body weight, breed and age, the advice we would like to give is to consult your veterinarian who will be able to assess the situation from time to time by knowing the dog thoroughly.
  • My dog is allergic to fish. Can I use Dogoteka products that contain fish oil (DOGOmaxy®, DOGOmini®, DOGOjunior®)?
  • The answer is YES, IN COMPLETE SAFETY.
Fish oil does not contain fish proteins except in traces that are so small that they cannot even be detected by analysis. From a clinical point of view, there are practically no allergies due to the ingestion of fish oil in animals allergic to fish proteins.
  • My dog is allergic to chicken. You can use Dogoteka products which contain hydrolyzed chicken proteins (hydrolyzed animal proteins from poultry liver)?
  • The answer is YES, IN COMPLETE SAFETY.
Hydrolyzed chicken liver proteins are obtained from a treatment (Hydrolysis) of proteins aimed at reducing them to their smaller constituents (amino acids). The term "hydrolyzed proteins", which is the wording to be used under the regulatory profile, can generate interpretative doubts because in practice the hydrolyzed proteins are amino acids. Hydrolysis (which is a kind of predigestion) is the process that breaks through heat, pressure or enzymatic reactions the peptide bond that holds the amino acids together to form proteins. Thus complex proteins are broken down into more or less long chains of amino acids (which no longer have the structure of proteins), up to the amino acids, the basic units. These amino acids are not recognized by the animal's body as allergens, because the structure is completely different from the initial one, so they can be used as food in animals that have problems with the undigested (non-hydrolyzed) proteins of that food.
  • Are Dogoteka products safe for my dog or cat?
  • We remind that in all our complementary feeds the active ingredients used in composition and additives are appropriately dosed to ensure a beneficial effect on the animal, do not cause side effects or any toxicity. They follow the EUROPEAN guidelines of the Feed Material Register which lists all natural products allowed in the animal field.
It is therefore advisable to follow the recommended daily portions.
  • Can my dog take the DOGOmaxy® always without taking breaks?
  • All of our products are designed to be given both in the short and long term, especially when they are aimed at animals suffering from chronic diseases, (ex-osteoarticular area) it is advisable to prolong use in months and years;
These are complementary feeds and as such can be accompanied by the daily diet of the animal, as the active ingredients present inside are for example foods (as in the case of the Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana), sometimes produced physiologically by the organism itself (e.g. glucosamine, chondroitin, components that make up the cartilage in the joint) or essential vitamins or amino acids.
It is therefore recommended to use it in repeated cycles. Where it is not possible to take breaks it can be used safely even without intermediate breaks, to ensure that an organism deficient in these essentials has a correct contribution from the outside.
  • What are feeds with particular nutritional or dietary purposes?
  • Dietary feeds are able to satisfy a particular nutritional purpose of animals, whose functions (digestive process, absorption or metabolism) are likely to be temporarily altered or are temporarily altered in an irreversible form. From the intake of this type of feed, animals benefit because they meet the needs of their health.
Food for animals intended for particular nutritional purposes, known by the acronym PARNUTS (Feed for Particular Nutritional Purposes) are regulated by Directive 2008/38 EC.
Compared to the category of complementary feeds, for complementary feeds intended for particular nutritional purposes a precise claim is defined, a period of use, a qualitative-quantitative composition profile suitable for satisfying a specific nutritional purpose and the intervention of the figure of the veterinarian before use or in case of extension of the period of use.
