Description

JOINTS SUPPORT AND CARTILAGE WEAR PROTECTION FOR DOG AND CATS IN ADULT AGE.

    • GLUCOSAMINE and CHONDROITIN SULFATE – it is called glucosamine sulphate and the result of Italian research is the substance that has shown – for the first time in the world – to intervene on the process of ‘wear and tear’ of the joints both in older dogs and in dogs that practice sports. Normally in the body, glucosamine is present in the joints, synovial fluid, tendons, ligaments and muscles and is synthesized by glucose In some situations where there may be a deficiency of glucosamine produced naturally by the body, a ‘exogenous contribution through eg. the intake of complementary feeds. The administration of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate to puppies and large or elderly dogs can be particularly useful for strengthening and chondroprotection of bone and cartilage structures. Glucosamine from exogenous intake is obtained from the hydrolysis of chitin, obtained from the shells of some crustaceans (marine exoskeletons). Chondroitin sulfate, as well as hyaluronic acid, belongs to a family of heteropolysaccharides called glycosaminoglycans or GAGs. They, in the form of proteoglycans, form the basic substance of the extracellular matrix of the connective tissue. Chondroitin sulfate is made up of repetitive linear units consisting of N-acetylgalactosamine and D-glucuronic acid. Chondroitin sulfate is found in cartilage. Chondroitin sulfate, especially in combination with glucosamine, can promote and therefore maintain the structure of cartilage (chondroprotection).
In particular – attracts water into the cartilage tissue. Articular cartilage is not a vascularized tissue; the nutrients are supplied to it through a liquid called synovial fluid, or synovium, which, in addition to supplying this tissue, also has a cushioning function, that is, to reduce friction between two bone ends. Synovial fluid consists mainly of water, hyaluronic acid and glycoproteins, therefore hydration of the synovial fluid is of fundamental importance.
    • EFFECTS OF GARCINIA MANGOSTANA – garcinia mangostana is a typical fruit of various areas of South East Asia. In the late 1990s, scientists isolated the Xanthones from the Mangosteen fruit. The class of xanthones, polyphenols derived from Benzo-y-pyrone, has many properties, the most interesting are represented by the high antioxidant power of gamma mangostin. Garcinia mangostana acts as a joint protector.
    • BIOCELL COLLAGEN® – it is a mixer of substances: type II hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, essential amino acids. Collagen, the main protein of connective tissue, is essential for structuring the joints, tendons and ligaments. Type II collagen is the most common type of collagen found in joint cartilages and accounts for 80-90% of the total collagen content. Biocell collagen contains hydrolyzed collagen, obtained using a patented technology that allows the extraction of a high percentage of collagen II, hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate, essential components of the body’s structure. This hydrolyzed collagen is formed by a molecular structure that allows for prompt assimilation.

Indications

Dietary complementary feed* also useful for supporting osteoarticular function, tendons and ligaments in dogs in general or for example in dogs subjected to intense work.

Dietary feeds are able to satisfy a particular nutritional purpose of animals, whose functions (digestive process, absorption or metabolism) are likely to be temporarily altered or are temporarily altered in an irreversible form. From the intake of this type of feed, animals benefit because they meet the needs of their health. There are different types and intended for food-producing or pet animals: from supporting joint metabolism, cardiac, renal, hepatic or dermal function to compensating for digestion up to reducing the risk of ketosis and excess body weight, and nutritional recovery / convalescence.
All particular nutritional purposes and the provisions that regulate them regarding labeling and their nature are authorized by the European Commission through specific Community acts (Dir. 2008/38 / EC and subsequent amendments).

Composition

Glucosamine sulphate (from crustacean shells) 20%, chondroitin sulphate (from bovine cartilage) 20%, chicken liver and heart powder, products obtained from the processing of herbs: (Garcinia mangostana fruit pulp powder *, turmeric powder *), fish oil, magnesium salt of stearic acid, chicken sternal cartilage hydrolyzed with a high concentration of collagen, hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulphate.
* ProTrixan is a registered trademark consisting of Garcinia mangostana powder, Curcuma powder and Garcinia cambogia dry extract.

Enhanced formula with the addition of fish oil.

Contains fish oil, a well-known source of polyunsaturated fatty acids of the omega 3 series. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are molecules consisting of a carbon chain with a final carboxylic group and a final methyl group. The carbon chain has both simple and double bonds, i.e. unsaturated portions.

Omega 3 fatty acids, as well as omega 6, are defined as essential fatty acids because the body is unable to synthesize them and therefore these nutrients must necessarily be taken with the diet. Polyunsaturated fatty acids, in particular EPA and DHA, have been recognized as having known health properties, first of all the beneficial action at the level of heart function, blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels.

FAQ - frequently asked questions

When is the use of DOGOmini® recommended?
+

DOGOmini® is a dietary complementary feed indicated for the support of joint metabolism in case of osteoarthritis in dogs from adult age or in large size dogs predisposed to cartilage wear.
FURTHER INDICATIONS: Also useful for supporting osteoarticular function, tendons and ligaments in dogs in general or ex. in dogs subjected to intense work.

Why PROTRIXAN®?
+

Because oxidative stress plays an important role in the progression of osteoarthritis. Protrixan contains a mixture of plants with a synergistic antioxidant action (garcinia mangostana and turmeric), therefore it is useful to support the metabolism of collagen which can in fact decrease in correlation with oxidative stress. In addition, turmeric is also a plant with a known action of support to joint function.

If I take human glucosamine for my dog is it the same as the glucosamine used in veterinary products?
+

Some active ingredients used may be the same, but the products for dogs and cats are formulated keeping in mind the physiology and metabolism of the animal and therefore using quality, quantity and dosages suitable for the animal species. Therefore, ingredients (including excipients) that are or can be potentially harmful, while they are not harmful for the human species, are excluded or in any case not used.
It should also be noted that the ingredients used for animals (without distinction for livestock and pets) are almost all feed and non-food grade.
Although it may seem counterintuitive, feed grade ingredients usually have a higher degree of purity and contamination free than food grade ones, because the legislation wanted to avoid (with reference to animals intended for human consumption) the consumption of meat in which they can be present harmful substances.

What are the properties of Garcinia mangostana?
+

Effects of garcinia mangostana on cell oxidation. Garcinia mangostana is a typical fruit of various areas of South East Asia.

What are the properties of Turmeric?
+

Curcuma longa L. tit. in curcumin Turmeric is a perennial herbaceous plant typical of tropical regions widely used in cooking as a spice and as a dye. The rhizome is used of this plant, particularly rich in curcumin. This substance, which gives turmeric its characteristic yellow color, is responsible for many of the beneficial actions of this plant including the protective action of cells from oxidative stress (antioxidant action) and supporting joint function.

Accidental ingestion of whole product packaging
+

We remind you that it is good practice to keep the unopened package away from the reach of children and animals, as indicated in the warnings on labels and boxes. The greatest risk in the event that a dog ingests the entire contents of the package is that it may in a hurry swallow pieces of plastic, much more harmful than the active ingredients contained in the product. However, given the variability of the subject with respect to body weight, breed and age, the advice we would like to give is to consult your veterinarian who will be able to assess the situation from time to time by knowing the dog thoroughly.

My dog is allergic to fish. Can I use Dogoteka products that contain fish oil (DOGOmaxy®, DOGOmini®, DOGOjunior®)?
+

The answer is YES, IN COMPLETE SAFETY.
Fish oil does not contain fish proteins except in traces that are so small that they cannot even be detected by analysis. From a clinical point of view, there are practically no allergies due to the ingestion of fish oil in animals allergic to fish proteins.

My dog is allergic to chicken. You can use Dogoteka products which contain hydrolyzed chicken proteins (hydrolyzed animal proteins from poultry liver)?
+

The answer is YES, IN COMPLETE SAFETY.
Hydrolyzed chicken liver proteins are obtained from a treatment (Hydrolysis) of proteins aimed at reducing them to their smaller constituents (amino acids). The term “hydrolyzed proteins”, which is the wording to be used under the regulatory profile, can generate interpretative doubts because in practice the hydrolyzed proteins are amino acids. Hydrolysis (which is a kind of predigestion) is the process that breaks through heat, pressure or enzymatic reactions the peptide bond that holds the amino acids together to form proteins. Thus complex proteins are broken down into more or less long chains of amino acids (which no longer have the structure of proteins), up to the amino acids, the basic units. These amino acids are not recognized by the animal’s body as allergens, because the structure is completely different from the initial one, so they can be used as food in animals that have problems with the undigested (non-hydrolyzed) proteins of that food.

Are Dogoteka products safe for my dog or cat?
+

We remind that in all our complementary feeds the active ingredients used in composition and additives are appropriately dosed to ensure a beneficial effect on the animal, do not cause side effects or any toxicity. They follow the EUROPEAN guidelines of the Feed Material Register which lists all natural products allowed in the animal field.
It is therefore advisable to follow the recommended daily portions.

Can my dog take the DOGOmini® always without taking breaks?
+

All of our products are designed to be given both in the short and long term, especially when they are aimed at animals suffering from chronic diseases, (ex-osteoarticular area) it is advisable to prolong use in months and years;
These are complementary feeds and as such can be accompanied by the daily diet of the animal, as the active ingredients present inside are for example foods (as in the case of the Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana), sometimes produced physiologically by the organism itself (e.g. glucosamine, chondroitin, components that make up the cartilage in the joint) or essential vitamins or amino acids.
It is therefore recommended to use it in repeated cycles. Where it is not possible to take breaks it can be used safely even without intermediate breaks, to ensure that an organism deficient in these essentials has a correct contribution from the outside.

What are feeds with particular nutritional or dietary purposes?
+

Dietary feeds are able to satisfy a particular nutritional purpose of animals, whose functions (digestive process, absorption or metabolism) are likely to be temporarily altered or are temporarily altered in an irreversible form. From the intake of this type of feed, animals benefit because they meet the needs of their health.
Food for animals intended for particular nutritional purposes, known by the acronym PARNUTS (Feed for Particular Nutritional Purposes) are regulated by Directive 2008/38 EC.
Compared to the category of complementary feeds, for complementary feeds intended for particular nutritional purposes a precise claim is defined, a period of use, a qualitative-quantitative composition profile suitable for satisfying a specific nutritional purpose and the intervention of the figure of the veterinarian before use or in case of extension of the period of use.

What is the difference between DOGOmaxy®, DOGOmini® and DOGOdol®?
+

DOGOmaxy® is a dietary complementary feed in tablets for large dogs useful for supporting joint metabolism in case of osteoarthritis therefore it is especially indicated in dogs that have this particular pathology; however, by supporting the osteoarticular function of the tendons and ligaments it can also result useful in dogs subjected to physical exertion or intense work.
This is also thanks to the innovative blend inside ProTriXan consisting of a combination of garcinia mangostana, turmeric and garcinia cambogia, active ingredients known for their powerful antioxidant properties and for their beneficial effects on the joints.
DOGOmaxy® is also useful in all breeds predisposed to developing osteoarticular dysfunctions that cause inflammation and pain in the joints involved. In these cases, the association with DOGODOL immediately relieves the painful component and performs a complementary and synergistic action, exponentially increasing the beneficial effects of the two products.
DOGOdol® is a complementary feed for dogs and cats indicated for a neuroprotective action, therefore suitable for any type of dog, of any age group or breed.
Neuroprotection is a strategy that aims to maintain the functionality of neuronal cells subjected to continuous oxidative stress, for this reason an integration with antioxidant substances can be very useful.
Also suitable after surgery or caesarean section.
It is important to underline that in particularly serious or difficult cases these 2 complementary feeds (DOGOdol® + DOGOmaxy®) work very well if proposed together to the animal, as their action is complementary and synergistic. The effect of both is therefore enhanced, if proposed simultaneously.

Good digestion affects the health and functioning of the entire organism

Nutrition is essential for the health of the animal. Suitable foods should be introduced through food: what is physiological for the animal’s body. These foods are broken down  into micronutrients through the process of digestion where the food is digested into smaller molecules that the body can absorb and use. Digestion, in addition to being  a very important process, is also a process that constantly occurs in the animal’s body. Good digestion is important: to nourish the cells with all the necessary […]

Malassezia

What is malassezia? Malassezia is a yeast that is part of the normal canine skin microbiota, so it is normally present on the skin of dogs and cats. In particular, Malassezia resides in wet areas such as: • ear canal • space between the fingers • skin folds • the genitals • the armpits This pathogen coexists with its host and in healthy animals it does not cause problems as long as the skin microbiota is in balance. When this […]
